Austin-based Riyaaz Qawwali is committed to sharing a centuries-old devotional genre with new audiences around the globe. Reflecting the extraordinary cultural landscape of South Asia, the ensemble comprises musicians hailing from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. At the heart of their performances are sacred poems of love and longing created by both venerable and new writers. Whether singing in Urdu, Punjabi, Farsi, Gujarati, or Hindi, Qawwali uses their music to connect and transcend.
