Explore the art of calligraphy in this live demonstration with Melissa Govea. Discover how expressive lettering styles are still used by contemporary artists today. This free, drop-in program is produced in partnership with Self Help Graphics & Art and complements the exhibition Graphic Design in the Middle Ages.

About Melissa Govea:
Melissa is a multidisciplinary creative from South Central Los Angeles. She specializes in traditional sign painting, murals, and screen printing. Her work is heavily rooted through culture and her own experiences. She earned her lettering and mural certification from Los Angeles Trade Tech. Her murals can be found in Downtown, South LA, and East LA. Melissa has worked for clients such as LACMA, The Smithsonian, Los Angeles Women's March, and many more. She leads multigenerational workshops that emphasize community and culture.
