Important Information about Medical and Immunization Records
All California schools require parents to submit proof of a recent annual medical and dental check-up for their enrolling students.

All immunizations must be up-to-date before a youngster can attend school. Before a student can begin attending classes at either a public or a private school, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles County Health Department require that his or her complete health and immunization records be presented in written form and authorized or signed by a public health clinic, health care provider, or private doctor. Please note that most California schools will only accept certified copies of records in English.

Consequently, before arriving in the United States, parents must call the school of their choice to obtain precise information on their required immunization and medical records. Requirements may vary in each school, by age and by grade and changes frequently occur from year to year. We also recommend verifying the necessity of a recent tuberculosis (TB) test for both the enrolling student and the parents. Schools often require the parents are tested if they are to volunteer in the school as needed or desired.

Public Grade Schools Near the Getty

Los Angeles offers free public school for all children from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. The public schools that serve the children in the neighborhood of Brentwood have been consistently ranked among the best in the State and the High School has also been nationally recognized.

We recommend contacting your school of interest by phone as they do not reply to email. Schools are in session from late-August until June and are closed throughout the summer. Therefore, please call in September or before the end of the school year.

Public schools will not begin the enrollment process, nor guarantee enrollment eligibility, before moving to Los Angeles and the process must be done in person with a parent/legal guardian and the student present. Regrettably, OSIP staff is unable to procure enrollment packets for incoming residents. Per LAUSD's strict policy, enrollment packets will not be mailed in advance and they must be picked up by a parent or legal guardian of the enrolling student upon arrival.

Most public schools can process enrollment for incoming students on the same day or within one-three days of arrival, so long as all LAUSD enrollment and required documentation is in order.
