The Early Life of Taddeo
Minerva Shows Taddeo the Prospect of Rome

Pallas Athena (goddess of learning and the arts) shows Taddeo—to his wonderment—a view of the city of Rome. Here, as throughout the series, an inscription on young Taddeo's tunic identifies him. He wears typical contemporary costume, with stockings probably made from wool or linen and cut to the shape of the leg. The scene is set on a road to the north of the city, with an entrance gate nearby.
