The Early Life of Taddeo
Allegories of Study and Intelligence Flanking the Zuccaro Emblem

Allegorical figures sit on either side of the Zuccaro family emblem. The figure of Study is hard at work drawing a nude torso, surrounded by various other sculptures and a peacock or rooster. Intelligence, at right, holds a caduceus (the wand of Mercury, representing eloquence and reason) and is surrounded by books, while an elephant (associated with fame) peers out from behind.
