Descriptive Note Text: This work is an example of one type of design and motto that was taught at Miss Balch's School. The emboiderer is thought to be Rebekah S. Munro, the daughter of Captain James Munro (ca. 1748-1814) and Rebecca Snow (ca. 1757-1817) of Providence. Rebekah died unmarried at the age of twenty-three. It is believed that she was not closely related to Mary Munro, another of Miss Balch's students whose embroidery is in the Museum's collection. Free text
