Repair and Retrofitting of Monuments

This area of project work is focused on identifying a repair methodology and techniques appropriate to the range of monument types across the site, taking account of the scale of the site, and the ongoing capacity of Department of Archaeology and National Museum. This methodology will include seismic mitigation measures.

To do this, we will:

Classify monuments into different building typologies based on their seismic structural behavior characteristics

Undertake advanced research modeling and testing on a representative building for each typology to understand the monument's behavior, develop appropriate and minimal intervention repair and retrofit approaches, trial and test the approaches, and develop strategies and guidelines for repair of the monuments across the site

Work with Department of Archaeology and National Museum staff to build their capacity to design and develop appropriate repair projects for the range of monuments across the site
