WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

KN95 Masks Available for Staff on Site

Beginning today, Getty is offering KN95 masks to staff and contractors who work on any Getty site. The KN95 is a higher-quality mask that can be used instead of, or to supplement, a cloth mask, providing a higher level of protection. (Note that KN95s are different than the N95s used by medical personnel, which are in short supply.) Staff who regularly work on site will be issued a KN95 mask from their program or department, if they request one. KN95s will also be available at Center Central Security, Villa lower-level security desk, and the Library Annex for those who occasionally visit the site. KN95s are disposable and should be used for only one day. Use of the KN95 is not mandatory; we will continue to have supplies of black cloth masks available for staff who prefer those to the KN95.

As a reminder, a face covering is required for everyone on site at the Center, Villa, or Library Annex at all times except when eating or drinking, or when alone in an enclosed space, such as an office. Masks with valves and gaiter-style masks are prohibited. In addition to wearing a mask, we must continue to maintain at least six feet of physical distance between ourselves and others and wash our hands frequently. Thank you for your help keeping everyone safe on Getty sites.

COVID Safety and Vaccine Survey

Thank you to the more than 1,000 employees who anonymously answered the COVID Safety and Vaccine Survey. Attached is an overview of the results. The survey shows that 86 percent of staff have a high or very high concern about COVID-19. 95 percent feel that Getty has made employee safety a high priority, and 79 percent say Getty is a safe place to work right now. 87 percent say their willingness to return to work is tied to safety protocols practiced on site, with 31 percent saying return to work is tied to school reopening, and 75 percent tying return to work to vaccine deployment. 86 percent say they intend to take the vaccine when it becomes available. Please note that we explored the idea of providing vaccines on site, but found it wasn’t possible for a number of reasons. We encourage staff to stay informed about the vaccine. Your survey feedback will inform our decisions as we continue to keep staff safe on site and plan for our eventual reopening.

February Library Curbside Service Canceled

Due to continuing high COVID rates in LA County, the Library’s February curbside service has been canceled. We hope to begin again in March. When we do resume curbside service, we will include all pending library requests.
