Battle of Pavón (South American history, 1861)

Note: The Battle of Pavón was fought between the Argentine Confederation and the people of Buenos Aires. The victory of Buenos Aires, led by the governor of Buenos Aires, Bartolomé Mitre, ended the years of conflict and armed force by the Argentine Army against its civilians. A new national government replaced the Argentine Confederation with Mitre as elected president for the following six years.
