Arthurian legend (British legends, by 12th century)

Note: Themes and narratives surrounding the body of stories and medieval romances centering on the legendary king Arthur. Based in folklore, appreared in written form by 12th century. Medieval writers, especially the French, variously treated stories of Arthur’s birth, the adventures of his knights, and the adulterous love between his knight Sir Lancelot and his queen, Guinevere.
