Groups/Items Categories:

Bibliographic References

Short Citation*
Page Reference
Published Reproductions

The categories in this section provide a means to cite bibliographic references pertaining to the group or item. Cataloguing may take either of two approaches. The rudimentary one is to use a simple free-text note for citations within entries. A more advanced approach is to implement a bibliographic authority file, a master file of full, authority-controlled citations. Maintaining such an authority eliminates the need to give full citations in every Group/Item entry.

Category: Short Citation*

Definition:
Identification of a bibliographic item without a full citation. (For the latter see Full Citation in Bibliographic Sources.) Short citations may include the name(s) of the author and year of publication, e.g., Schiavo, 1965. Page numbers are recorded separately under Page Reference.

Examples:

Granet, 1963
Hautecoeur, 1952
Harris, Lever, Richardson, [n.d.]

Implementation:
