	Saint Veronica's Veil (Christian theme)

Note: Theme of the veil or Veronica and the veil, from the narrative of Veronica offering her veil to Jesus to dry his face on the Way of the Cross, when an imprint of Christ's face remained on the veil. In several regions of Christendom a saint called Veronica is honored, as a pious matron of Jerusalem. The name is actually derived from "vera icon," meaning a true image; most likely the stories of Veronica developed in early Christian Rome around a pre-existing relic image that was known as the true image.
