	Maitreya (Buddhist bodhisattva)

Note: The Buddha of the coming era; currently an advanced bodhisattva who resides in Tusita heaven awaiting final rebirth, complete enlightenment. Maitreya will be a successor to the present Buddha, Gautama Buddha. The prophecy known in canonical literature of all major schools of Buddhism, tells of the arrival of Maitreya in the future when the dharma will have been forgotten by most on the terrestrial world.
