Note: A traditional crucible steel of southern India used for wire and sharp edged tools. Although associated in the popular imagination with Damascene swords, and legendarily a supersteel, wootz has a brittle structure subject to shattering, making it more suitable for ceremonial blades than for actual use in battle.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Een traditionele staalsoort uit het zuiden van India, die wordt gebruikt voor het maken van draad en gereedschappen met scherpe randen. Alhoewel het vaak geassocieerd wordt met Damasceense zwaarden en het in legenden als superstaal te boek staat, heeft wootz een broze, breekbare structuur, waardoor het meer geschikt is voor ceremoniĆ«le wapens dan voor daadwerkelijk gebruik in de strijd.
