Note: Wood of the species Prunus serotina of North America, found in forest areas from Ontario to Florida and from the Dakotas to Texas. Black cherry has a dense, close-grain wood that polishes to a high gloss. The reddish-brown wood is used for musical instruments, furniture, cabinetry, interior trim, and paneling. Fine, narrow, brown pith flecks are common. |

Dutch ..... Hout van de boom behorend tot de soort Prunus serotina, aangetroffen in bosgebieden tussen Ontario en Florida, en van North en South Dakota tot Texas. De kleur van het kernhout varieert van roodbruin tot helderrood, vaak met fijne, smalle bruine mergvlekken. Wordt gebruikt bij de vervaardiging van kostbaar meubilair, muziekinstrumenten, betimmering van bootinterieurs en schrijnwerk. |
Spanish ..... Madera del árbol perteneciente a la especie Prunus serotina que se encuentra en los bosques de Ontario a Florida y desde Dakota del Norte y del Sur hasta Tejas. El duramen varía de marrón rojizo a rojo definido y son comunes manchas finas, angostas y de color marrón. Se utiliza en la fabricación de muebles finos, instrumentos musicales, parte interior de botes y ebanistería. |
