Note: Small hanging lamps made of iron or earthenware having a handle at one end and a pinched spout for a wick at the other, utilizing a round bowl (called a "cruse") of about 3 inches in diameter to contain fuel, typically hard fat. The cruse lamp developed from the floating-wick pan lamps used by Mediterranean peoples in pre-Christian times. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 以鐵片或陶土製成的小型懸掛燈,一端有把手,另一端為裝有燈蕊的尖瘦壺嘴;此燈具多以硬化油脂做為燈油,由直徑約3英吋的圓碗(稱為「碗燈」(cruse))盛裝。罐形燈乃由前基督教時期地中海區域人們所使用的浮動燈芯式平底燈發展而來。 |
Dutch ..... Kleine hanglampen van ijzer of aardewerk met een handvat aan één kant en een dunne tuit voor een pit aan de andere en met een rond reservoir ��� dat men een ���cruse' (���kruik') noemde ��� van ongeveer 7,5 cm in diameter waarin brandstof zat, gewoonlijk hard vet. Deze lampen ontstonden uit de panvormige lampen met drijvende pitten die mediterrane volken in voorchristelijke tijden gebruikten. |
