Note: Soft, fine-grained wood of the species Liriodendron tulipifera of North America. The sapwood is usually a creamy off-white color; heartwood is pale green, often with streaks of red, purple, or black. It is cheap, easy-to-work, can take a sharp edge, and is stable, used to seal pipes and valves in organs, for siding clapboards, coffin boxes, pattern timber, and wooden ware. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 柔軟而木紋細緻的北美洲鵝掌揪(Liriodendron tulipifera)木材。邊材通常呈乳灰白色,心材則呈淺綠色,通常帶有紅色、紫色或是黑色的斑紋,為廉價、好處理的木材,可以作出銳利的邊緣,並且十分牢固,用於密封管風琴的琴管和活栓、為護牆板加邊、製作棺材、木材拼花、木製用具。 |
Dutch ..... Zacht hout met een fijne nerf van de soort Liriodendron tulipifera uit Noord-Amerika. Het spinthout is meestal roomachtig gebroken wit; het kernhout is bleekgroen, vaak met rode, paarse of zwarte strepen. Het is goedkoop, eenvoudig te bewerken, kan scherp worden gemaakt en is stabiel. Het wordt gebruikt om pijpen en kleppen van orgels af te dichten, voor dakspanen, doodskisten, gemodelleerd hout en houtwaren. |
