Note: Species of fir tree native to the mountains of the eastern United States and Canada. It is closely related to Abies balsamea (balsam fir), of which it was formerly treated as a subspecies. It is cultivated as a Christmas tree due to its fragrance, shape, strong limbs, and ability to retain its soft needles after being cut. |

Dutch ..... Sparrensoort die voorkomt in bergen van het oosten van de Verenigde Staten en Canada. Hij is nauw verwant met Abies balsamea (balsemzilverspar), waarvan hij voorheen als ondersoort werd beschouwd. Hij wordt gekweekt als kerstboom vanwege de sterke geur, de vorm, de sterke takken en het vermogen om de zachte naalden ook na het kappen vast te houden. |
