Note: The fruit of Piper nigrum, the pepper plant, dried and typically ground into powder to use as a condiment. It has a hot, pungent flavor and is most frequently paired with some form of salt. The ground spice appears in two forms, the more pungent black pepper, produced from black peppercorns, and the milder white pepper, produced from white peppercorns. |

Dutch ..... De vrucht van Piper nigrum, de peperplant, gedroogd en meestal vermalen tot poeder om als kruiderij te gebruiken. Het heeft een hete, scherpe smaak en wordt meestal gecombineerd met een of andere vorm van zout. De gemalen specerij verschijnt in twee vormen, de meer scherpe zwarte peper, gemaakt van zwarte peperkorrels, en de zachtere witte peper, geproduceerd uit witte peperkorrels. |
