Diprotodontia (order) (Mammalia (class), Vertebrata (subphylum), ... Living Organisms (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Order containing 115 or more species in 10 families and a number of extinct species. Distinguished by a pair of large procumbent incisors on the lower jaw (diprotodont) paired with typically three pair of upper incisors and no lower canines, and the fusing of the second and third digits of the foot up to the base of the claws which leaves the claws themselves separate (syndactyly) and with the fifth digit usually absent and a greatly enlarged fourth digit. |
