Note: Large carved monolithic rings of the Taíno people, mostly limited to Puerto Rico. Many are elliptical with a thicker portion with two panels that exhibit decorative carvings. While their exact use is unknown, most archaeologists suggest they were worn on the hips for ceremonial purposes or ball games. They can be classified in at least two types: slender or massive. |

Dutch ..... Grote beeldgesneden monolithische ringen van het Taíno-volk, die vooral in Puerto Rico zijn gevonden. Veel zijn ellipsvormig en hebben een dikker gedeelte met twee panelen waarop decoratief beeldsnijwerk te zien is. Het precieze gebruik is onbekend, maar de meeste archeologen denken dat ze om de heup werden gedragen bij ceremonies of balspelen. Ze kunnen in ten minste twee typen worden geclassificeerd: slank en massief. |
Portuguese ..... Grandes aros monolíticos esculpidos feitos pelo povo Taíno, geralmente limitados à Porto Rico. Muitos são elípticos com uma porção mais grossa com dois painéis que exibem gravações decorativas. Enquanto seu uso exato é desconhecido, muitos arqueólogos sugerem que eles eram usados nos quadris para fins cerimoniais ou jogos de bola. Eles podem ser classificados em pelo menos dois tipos: fino ou espesso. |
