Note: Emission spectroscopy technique used to determine elemental content of materials. The material is heated to a high temperature causing the electrons in the sample to emit light which is converted into a spectral pattern. In the broader sense, optical emission spectroscopy includes ICP optical emission spectrometry, which uses an inductively coupled plasma as the excitation source.

| Dutch ..... Een emissiespectroscopietechniek waarmee de elementsamenstelling van een materiaal vastgesteld kan worden. Het materiaal wordt op een hoge temperatuur gebracht, waardoor de elektronen in het monster licht uitzenden dat geconverteerd wordt naar een spectraal patroon. Optical emission spectroscopy in een bredere zin omvat tevens ICP optical emission spectrometry, waarin een inductief gekoppeld plasma als excitatiebron wordt gebruikt. |
