Note: A traditional jewelry casting technique. The elliptical back plate or cuttlebone of the ordinary squid serves as the mold material. The desired pattern is carved into one half of the divided cuttlebone. The two halves are attached and heated metal is poured through a rounded channel cut into the top of the bone. |

Dutch ..... Traditionele giettechniek voor sieraden. Het ellipsvormige rugschild (de schelp) van de gewone inktvis dient als materiaal voor de gietmal. Het gewenste patroon wordt in de ene helft van het schild gegraveerd. De twee helften worden bevestigd en verhit metaal wordt door een rond tuitje boven in het schild gegoten. |
