Note: Thermoplastic polymer of the polyester family made by condensing ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. It is used to make textile fibers, disposable beverage bottles, photographic film, and magnetic recording tape. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was the first commercially marketed polyester, sold as Dacron (TM) in the U.S. |

Dutch ..... Thermoplastisch polymeer uit de polyesterfamilie, gemaakt door ethyleenglycol en tereftaalzuur te condenseren. Het wordt gebruikt voor de productie van textielvezels, wegwerpdrankflessen, fotografische film en magneetbanden. Polyethyleentereftalaat (PET) was het eerste polyester dat in de Verenigde Staten in de handel kwam, onder de naam Dacron (TM). |
