Note: Species of tree native to the Appalachian mountain region of the United States, but widely cultivated in Europe, Asia, North Africa, and New Zealand as an ornamental and shade tree. It grows to 24 meters (80 feet) in height and bears long, compound leaves with 6 to 20 oblong leaflets. The fragrant white flowers hang in loose clusters. There are many varieties, some thornless. It has long been used for erosion control and as a timber tree. |

Dutch ..... Boomsoort, inheems in de Appalachen in de Verenigde Staten, die ook op grote schaal als sier- en schaduwboom wordt geteeld in Europa, Azië, Noord-Afrika en Nieuw-Zeeland. De soort wordt 24 meter hoog en draagt ������lange, samengestelde bladeren met 6 tot 20 langwerpige blaadjes. De geurige witte bloemen hangen in losse trossen. Er zijn veel variëteiten, waarvan sommige geen doorns hebben. De soort wordt al lange tijd gebruikt om erosie tegen te gaan en als productieboom. |
