Porta Santa marble (variegated marble, <marble by color or pattern>, ... Materials (hierarchy name)) |

Note: A purplish red and white clouded stone which may come from either the island of Iasus or the island of Chios. It was supposedly favored by the emperor Claudius in antiquity and was later used in the door jambs of the Porta Santa of St. Peter's in Rome, hence its name. |

Dutch ..... Een purperachtige rood-wit gewolkte steen afkomstig van het eiland Iasus of het eiland Chios. Naar men zegt was het in de oudheid geliefd bij keizer Claudius. Later werd het gebruikt in de deurposten van de Porta Santa van de Sint-Pietersbasiliek in Rome. Hier komt ook de naam vandaan. |
Spanish ..... Mármol violáceo con nubes rojas y blancas que proviene ya sea de la isla de Iasus o de la isla de Quíos. Se supone que era el favorito del emperador Claudio en la Antigüedad, y fue utilizado para las jambas de la Porta Santa de la Basílica de San Pedro en Roma, de donde proviene su nombre. |
