WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

New Phone Service Rollout

Testing is complete and the new RingCentral Phone service is being scheduled for Getty programs and departments. This means you’ll soon be able to make and receive business calls and check voicemail virtually anywhere, via a desktop app on your Getty computer and/or any mobile device. You will receive an email from Getty Digital with instructions on activating your account and online demo training dates.

Getty Matching Gifts Update

New Matching Gifts policy documents are now available in English and Spanish, a response to recommendations that originated with the DEI Council Action and Ideas Subcommittee. The new policy documents reflect changes made to the program last November and are meant to improve access to this benefit that is available to all full-time Getty employees (including limited-term employees) and trustees. The Getty Matching Gifts Program is administered by the Foundation’s Grants Administration department, which has also updated the Matching Gifts forms for employees, executives, and trustees. The new policy documents and forms are attached here and are also available on Getty GO. A reminder to all staff that the Matching Gifts program operates on Getty’s fiscal year schedule. So if you want to make the most of your allocation this year, be sure to complete and submit your Matching Gifts forms before the end of June. Questions? Email GettyMatchingGifts@getty.edu.

Reporting Unemployment Income

Although Getty employees have been paid throughout the pandemic, you may have friends or family who collected unemployment benefits and we want to make you aware that the California Employment Development Department (EDD) recently released new information and resources to help individuals who received a Form 1099G for unemployment compensation, as these payments must be reported on the individual’s state and federal tax returns. The EDD’s new Form 1099G information center provides information on the Form 1099G and how to request a copy if needed. If you receive a Form 1099G but did not file a claim for benefits and think that someone may have filed a claim using your name, address, or Social Security number, you are encouraged to notify the EDD through Ask EDD, by selecting the Form 1099G category.

Reminder: Vanguard One-on-One Sessions & MSA Tax Help

There are still times available for one-on-one phone sessions with Vanguard, offered March 29–April 1. English and Spanish sessions will be available each day. To request a session, complete this survey no later than Thursday, March 18. Employees who don’t have regular access to a computer can leave a message with Kathleen Lohmann at (310) 440-6577 to request an appointment. Still working on your taxes? You can always talk with an MSA Money Coach for tax-related questions; simply call MSA at (888) 724-2326 to set up an appointment. MSA also works with tax partners to provide discounted tax preparation services (you need to pay for these services, but MSA does not receive any payment or commission). The attached flyers provide information about a 25% discount on do-it-yourself online tax filing services, or a 50% discount on assisted tax preparation provided by a tax professional.

After careful deliberation, the Council reached consensus to advance a significant number of recommended action items to Senior Leadership. Senior Leadership will then meet to discuss and evaluate these action items, and provide feedback to the Council. We look forward to reporting the outcomes of that discussion to the Getty community.
