Creek War (American history, 1813-1814)

Note: Conflict consisting of two major parts: a civil war between the Red Stick Creeks (Mvskoke) and Lower Town Creeks and a multi-national conflict implicating the British, United States, and several Native nations including the Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw. The initial catalyst was Euroamerican settlement in Creek land; the Red Sticks faction argued for a military uprising against settlers while the Lower Town Creeks advocated for peace and reconciliation. British involvement was related to the ongoing War of 1812 against the United States (1812-1815). British troops fought alongside the Red Sticks and encouraged raids to weaken the U.S. Hostilities ended on March 27th, 1814 at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, with the United States defeating the Red Sticks. This conflict lent support to proposals of removing Native nations from the southeast U.S.
