Yakama War (American history, 1855-1858)

Note: Conflict between Euroamerican settlers and several Native tribes, primarily the Yakama. Divided into two phases, with the first war occurring from 1855 to 1856 due to an increased amount of white settlers moving into the Columbia Plateau region (Washington, Oregon, and Idaho in the United States). The second phase included a wider coalition of Native tribes organized against the U.S. Army, organized by Yakama Chief Kamiakin, occurring in 1858. The conflict ended with severe Native casualties but hostilities continued in the region.
