Iphigenia (Greek character)

Note: Daughter of Agamemnon and Clytaemnestra, sister of Orestes, Chrysothemis, and Electra; sacrificed to Artemis by Agamemnon to allow the Greeks to depart for Troy; in some traditions she is rescued by Artemis at the last minute and either became a goddess or a priestess of Artemis in the land of the Taurians.
