Prophecy of Tenochtitlán (Aztec narrative, 14th century)

Note: Ancient prophecy that held the wandering Mexica tribes would find the destined site for a great city, the location revealed by an eagle devouring a snake while on a cactus. The Mexica saw this vision on the site of what was to become Tenochtitlán, originally a swampy island in Lake Texcoco.
