Great Leap Forward (Chinese history, 1958-1960)

Note: Massive campaign instigated by the Communist Party in China, meant to expand the country's agricultural industrialization process, in light of strained relations with the U.S.S.R. It was seen as disastrous, leading to, among other events, the famine of ca. 1959-1962, which claimed approximately 20 million lives.
