Tītokowaru's War (New Zealand War, 1868-1869)

Note: Conflict in the South Taranaki region of New Zealand between Māori people (specifically the Ngāti Ruanui), and the forces of the New Zealand government, over the desire for, and confiscation of, land by European settlers. The war was named for Tītokowaru, the leader who forcefully (and successfully) led several attacks against the colonial forces. The conflict eventually subsided as Tītokowaru's army dispersed.
