Saint Christopher Carrying the Christ Child

Note: Narrative or devotional theme of Saint Christopher, a giant or otherwise of large stature, carrying the baby Jesus across a swollen river; after a difficult crossing, it is revealed to Christopher that the child was Jesus, so heavy because he carries the weight of the world. Christopher's name means "Christ-bearer." Represents Christopher as the patron saint of travelers; seen on medals and painted on the outside of churches.
