Thank you for posting this exibition on your site. I have enjoyed it very much. This is the only way I will get to see the icons. I was impressed with the video. It has been a most enjoyable and informative use of time.

I am interested in information about the icon in the exhibit where the virgin is represented by herself, with her arms held out as if she were still holding the Christ child.

Even though I am not Catholic, it was very interesting seeing these icons in person. It was an educational experience that I will not forget. Thanks for having it in Los Angeles.

Globalization is often referred to in a negative light. Yet the opportunities provided by advanced technology allows the Getty Center the ability to share the insights of these holy men and the beauty of this holy place.

The exhibit is beautiful and you have done a wonderful job of presenting icons as windows to the Holy. Are there reprints available of any of the icons? I would especially be interested in the icon of the 3 Hebrews and St. Michael. Is it in the catalog in color?

Editor's Note: Yes, the catalogue is in color. Please call the Museum Bookstore for information about other available merchandise: (800) 223-3431 or (310) 440-7059.

Great Web Site—Great Exhibition.
What else is there to say?

How wonderful the Getty has had the privilege and respect from the monks of Mount Sinai to show these treasures most of us would never have a chance to see. Byzantine icons are still one of the areas of sacred art too few know about. They are beautiful as art as well as windows on heaven. Thank you to the Getty for the Web site that has allowed someone half-way around the world to have some experience of the exhibition. Congratulations.

Truly, these icons are a treasure. They are windows into heaven. It is a miracle that they have survived, and that the monks throughout the ages have kept them, as well as the ancient books.

I am most grateful to all involved for the unthinkable opportunity to experience so many of the Saint Catherine's Monastery icons in our own country. I absolutely plan to visit the exibit. Thank you for myself and for many, many others. Glory to God.

This exhibition indeed owes a debt of gratitiude to the monks of the Monastery for being "the keepers" of these magnificent icons. However, the Getty is also owed thanks for bringing these images to the West! Even though I can't be there, your Web site and video have at least allowed me a glimpse into the lives of these modern-day saints and their mission to keep their history alive. Thank you!

Thank you for hosting the Mount Sinai exhibit! I only wish I could get there to see it in person. Meanwhile, your Web site on the exhibition warmed my heart and brought joy. I especially appreciated the short "video excursion." May God bless you for your hospitality to the Mount Sinai collection!

Praise the Triune God, living forever, Almighty, Merciful Lord of all. He alone is good. These icons are wonderful to have. The desert bears fruit.

How refreshing that the Getty has the vision to share this treasure with the world. In a time when we seek change for change's sake, you are displaying a part of the treasure of the ancient Christian faith. The beauty of our loving and merciful God shines from these timeless icons. In the Orthodox tradition the monastics have been guardians of the faith through the ages and their efforts continue to inspire the faithful.

I am extremely impressed that you have been blessed to have these holy icons on display. Is this the only place that they will be exhibited? I have grown up with the childhood dream of seeing these icons and the Monastery at Mount Sinai. This is a miracle that they allowed this.

Editor's Note: Unfortunately, the Getty Center is the only venue for this exhibition. The objects will return to the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai after the exhibition closes in March.

I am amazed by and in awe of the beauty of the Byzantine art. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to view the collection. I hope to visit the Getty soon.
