The multidimensional projects of the Getty Conservation Institute are carried out by three programmatic departments:

Education focuses on advancing the development of conservation professionals at all stages of their careers and on enhancing the educational infrastructure that supports this learning.

Field Projects works with partners internationally to advance conservation practice through the development and implementation of model projects at significant cultural heritage sites around the world.

Science addresses unsolved problems, studies the deterioration of materials that comprise works of art and historic buildings, develops analytical methodologies, and advances the research agenda of the conservation field.
