Poutini Kidnaps Waitaiki (Maori narrative)

Note: Narrative in which the supernatural being Poutini became enamoured with Waitaiki, a beautiful woman bathing, Poutini kidnaps her and takes her south, as her husband Tamaahua pursues. Poutini makes fires along the way to keep Waitaiki warm; on the sites of the fires, Tamaahua finds sources of the stone pounamu.
