Buddha defeating Māra (Buddhist narrative)

Note: The Buddha defeating temptation, illusion, and death, in the form of the demon Māra. Buddha may be seated in the bhūmisparśa mudrā, or "earth-touching gesture," visually evoking the moment when he calls the earth goddess as witness to his enlightenment, and marking the final defeat of Māra.
