Tlaloc (Nahua deity)

Note: ENGLISH: Nahua deity associated with storms and rain. Represented with large round eyes or "goggles" and with pointed or curling elements at the mouth, sometimes interpreted as fangs. Related deities with similar iconography are found across Mesoamerica and from at least the 1st century BCE. For example, see Cocijo (Zapotec deity), and Chahk (Maya deity). SPANISH: Deidad nahua asociada a las tormentas y la lluvia. Representada con grandes ojos redondos o "gafas" y con elementos puntiagudos o rizados en la boca, a veces interpretados como colmillos. Deidades relacionadas con una iconografía similar se encuentran en toda Mesoamérica y desde al menos el siglo I a.C. Por ejemplo, véase Cocijo (deidad zapoteca) y Chahk (deidad maya).
