Presentation in the Temple (New Testament narrative)

Note: Event in both the Life of Christ and the Life of the Virgin Mary. Narrative concerns Mary and Jesus, in keeping with Mosaic law, coming to the temple 40 days after the birth of the male child in order to ritually purify the woman and offer sacrifice for the child. Celebrated as Candlemas on February 2.
