Agony in the Garden (New Testament narrative)

Note: Narrative surrounding the extreme distress of Jesus as he prays for strength, in the garden of Gethsemane or on the adjacent Mount of Olives on the eve of his Crucifixion. Angels may comfort him, the apostles may appear asleep at their guard posts. From the gospels, especially Matthew 26:42 and Luke 22:43.
