Note: Two-page leaf in a booklet copy of the Diamond Sutra in the bright, straightforward style of Tibetan- and Guiyijun-period Dunhuang manuscript illustration; showing the Buddha preaching, surrounded by monks and bodhisattvas. The monk kneeling in front of the Buddha is Subhuti. Frontispiece was not at the very beginning of the album, but followed the depiction of eight Vajrapāṇi (thunderbolt bearers), the last of which is on the back, holding up a vajra, identified by Chinese inscription.
