Yi Hongju (Korean calligrapher and government official, 1562-1638)

Note: Yi Hongju was a calligrapher and civil official during the mid-Joseon period. He was a renowned calligrapher of his time who excelled in regular and cursive scripts, and his calligraphic style was passed down as a family tradition. He is a significant for developing his own distinct version within the tradition of Zhao Mengfu's Songxue style of calligraphy at a time when Han Ho's Seokbong style was becoming mainstream. |
