Yi Yunyeong (Korean painter, 1714-1759)
|
Note: Yi Yunyeong was a literati painter active in the late Joseon period. He enjoyed creating paintings of landscapes, lotus flowers, and pine trees with a thatched hut or rugged rocks and projected his inner world onto subject matter symbolizing integrity and virtuous gentlemen. Yi is viewed as a significant figure for understanding the history of literati painting based on the concept of sketching ideas, which was a major trend in mid-eighteenth-century painting circles. |
