Bons, Jan (Dutch graphic designer and muralist, born 1918 )

Note: "The Hague Academy, the New Art School in Amsterdam, and his contacts with Sandberg, Treumann and Duwaer printers have combined to mould Jan Bons into an idiosyncratic designer, who through the clarity of his use of typography, form and colour uses any graphic means in a spontaneous and piercing manner." During WWII, Bons made illegal documents and designed and published the first translation of Kafka in the Netherlands, as well as a book on Kandinsky and a publication against fascism. These activities influenced his post-war work which included murals, exhibition design, posters, calendars, and postage stamps.
