Barry, Edward Middleton (English architect, 1830-1880)

Note: Born 7 June 1830; died 27 January 1880. In 1848, E.M. Barry entered the Royal Academy of Arts. After a short apprenticeship with Thomas Henry Wyatt, Edward M. Barry entered the office of his father Sir Charles Barry whom he succeded after his death in 1860. In 1869 Barry was elected Academician, in 1873 Professor of Architecture, and in 1874 Treasurer of the Royal Academy of Arts. He became Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1860 and Vice-President in 1878. British architect, 3rd son of Sir Charles Barry.
