Note: Active in San Francisco, California and known for his public persona and performances in a form of 'drag' of his own invention in the 1980s and 90s. Awareness of his visual works, created in a variety of media including ceramics, nail polish, conventional makeup, and ash on found objects such as bottlecaps has grown since his death from HIV/AIDS complications in 1995. He held an MFA in ceramics from the San Francisco Art Institute. |
