Francart, Jacques, the younger (Flemish architect, painter, and writer, ca. 1583-1651)
|
Note: Probably born in Antwerp. Along with Coebergher, Aguilonius and Huyssens, Francart was one of the most important church architects in the southern Netherlands in the early 17th century and he was a pioneering force in the introduction and dissemination of the Roman early Baroque style in this region. Notable projects include the completion of the Jesuit church in Brussels, the Augustinian church in Brussels, the Béguinage Church in Mechelen, and the design of the funeral procession of the Archduke Albert. |
