Radziwiłł family (Polish patrons and collectors, active late 16th-early 19th centuries)
|
Note: The Radziwiłłs were prominent representatives of Sarmatian Baroque culture and sought to glorify the family through their patronage. They built magnificent residences in the prevailing fortified castle style (now mostly destroyed), established art collections, and members of both Catholic and Calvinist lines founded many ecclesiastical buildings. In the 18th century the Radziwiłłs contributed to the development of crafts such as glassworking by establishing factories on their estates. |
