Note: The largest Yayoi archaeological complex in Japan, now housed in a historical park. Excavations date the site from the 3rd century BCE to the 3rd century CE. Early cultivation of red-grained rice and a switch from a nomadic to permanent lifestyle have been documented at Yoshinogari.
